camping recipes
Yeppers,food made while camping.Got a special dish you like??.Camp ground recipes??.Got any???.
We like to make groole.It's 25lbs of the best ground beef you can buy and cook it in a cast iron fry pan and a little of everything you like.Corn,Chili peppers,Chili beans,hot peppers, sweet peppers,tomato sauce,touch of pepper,pinch of salt,pinch of celery,and anything else you got around.Put in a big pot and let is simmer for like 6hrs stir it every 1/2hr.It is the best home make chili.

Here's 1 for Buck's taters
5-10lbs of taters cubed (depending on size of leechers,lol)
1-2 large spanish onions cubed
Garlic fresh or minced in olive oil,whatever is easiest and available
4-8 0z of olive oil
2-4 red and green bell peppers cubed
Dry spices & seasoning to taste
In a large pan/dutch oven/skillet brown all taters in olive oil
in another pan saute garlic,onions and peppers
When done mix the two together in a huge bowl and serve
Simple easy,tasty NECO approved

Ok I'll post up the secret champion burger recipe but I won't post the secret 7 spices that go in it lol.
1. Procure a decent meat grinder.
2. Procure 2LBs of grade A steak
3. Procure 2LBs of your favorite smoked bacon ( must be smoked to prevent illness or having to over cook burgers you'll understand soon)
4. Procure 2Lbs smoked honey garlic sausage. (must be smoked for same reason as bacon)
5. Strip casing off sausage. Place in bowl
6. mince or pass bacon through meat grinder. Place in bowl with sausage
7. Pass steak through meat grinder. Place in bowl aswell
8. Mix all 3 in bowl and add necessary spices. DO NOT ADD FILLERS OR BINDERS. this means no stupid bread crumbs or crackers. You may add some diced onions tho.
9. heat up a frying pan to searing temps.
10. Shape meat into patties and sear on both sides to prevent falling apart.
11. Cook over fire (I prefer a touch of hickory in my fire) until cooked through if you didn't use smoked meat or until desired rarity if you did.
12. Top and enjoy. A bib may be necessary at this stage due to content of grease. Also a defibrillator or By pass surgery may be needed aswell.
I do personally recommend making the burgers to big you need a kaiser bun to be able to contain 1 Pattie.

Here's a pic for ya Dean, of course, this one needs no explanation. The wife usually cooks this up right before we go and we eat on it, well, until it's gone. OOHHH, that hard, crunching sugar outside coating, man and it's almost lunchtime!!!

Of course, you have the camping favorite, ...
box of Graham crackers, bag of marshmellows, few large Hershey chocalate bars, and a campfire!!!!
We also have a sandwich griller, make great grilled cheese and lunchmeat samiches

Hmmm, don't know if I have a favorite. But I do like to take a couple of venison steaks, salt & pepper real well and dust with flour, fry up some thick sliced bacon and sautee an onion and a bit of fresh garlic in the grease in a skillet over the fire. Then you remove the bacon and toss the steaks in the pan with the onions, bacon grease and garlic. Meanwhile in another skillet fry up some home fries. Take them all out when they are done to your satisfaction and you have yourself a mighty tasty meal :>) Mmmmmmmmmmmmm
Then there's always fresh caught catfish to fry with hushpuppies and french fries...man, I'm gettin' hungry!

Anybody still cook Jiffy Pop?? My kids had no clue what it was. I haven't seen it in years..until I found some down here at Target & had to buy it. Tried it on the fire pit & it worked really great!

Definitely a camping staple...The trick is to duct tape the handle to the end of a hiking stick so you won't get roasted, and shake shake shake!

Ok, I know I haven't been on in a while so I thought I'd post something. Good thing it's all about food :>)
Low Country Boil
The ingredients are:
Shrimp with heads removed (or other raw shellfish, ie; crabs, lobster, crawfish, etc.)
Sausage – links cut into 2-3in pieces
Corn on the cob – broken in half
Red new potatoes whole – small ones
1 large onion peeled
Crab Boil Seasoning to taste
For the table:
Fresh Italian bread
Melted bowls of butter
Gallons of iced tea!!
And 25 of your closest friends and family.
The amount of ingredients depends on the number of people you are cooking for. I used my propane burner that I use for frying turkeys. Basically in a large pot filled with water you drop in the onion after it starts to boil. 5 minutes later you drop in the potatoes, 5 minutes later you drop in the corn, 3 minutes later you drop in the sausage. After about 3 minutes, turn off the fire and drop in the shrimp. Let stand for 5 minutes and drain off the water. Dump the contents of the pot onto a long table covered with paper (butcher paper is best but newspaper works fine). Place melted butter and bread on the table and dig in. It feeds a crowd with very little effort.

Instead of roasting marshmallows on the stick, I like to roast bite sized chunks of pepperoni over the fire. Mmmmmmm. Good.
