When gas was really bad, I found these. Someone was selling one cheap locally.

I actually wish it were just a tad wider. I think it would give it a more aggressive stance and look. I find it funny when I park next to some big SUV or truck and find my lifted Astro towering over them. But at a distance, my Astro looks smaller as the SUV or truck is so much wider.

Aaron, you didn't by one? and how cheap is cheap?

You're right, increased width would look awesome. I prefer the existing width of the Astro mainly for the Pacific Northwest trails that I use it on. Its so nimble on the trails and FS roads.

My only regret is that i didn't realize I wanted a van sooner. I bought Jen the Nissan Murano 2 years before getting the van and its been great. Its really sporty, and can still haul four adults and bikes over the mountains. I can't believe how roomy the backseat is (because they don't try to make it a 7 seater). Then I bought the van and ended up with three 4x4 (AWD) people movers? I would have gotten her a Honda S2000 instead to have a 4x4 4dr pickup, the van, and a sportscar, but its too late now (she wants to have critters of the two legged variety). I would have been very happy with that fleet, but oh well. Who knows, my company could close down next week and I could lose my company F-150.

(After we got the Nissan, my friend sent me a link to this Fifth Gear video, and I've been intriqued by the Honda ever since.

They were wanting $1500, needed some body work though. Owner's kid put it in the ditch. Damage wasn't bad.

We get those little vans thru my work on a fairly regular basis. I wouldn't drive one outside of the parking lot. You would lose in a accident with a empty pop can. They are so small I can barely fit in the drivers seat with my knees hitting the dash with the seat back as far as it will go. I am not a big guy 5'10 200lbs. Plus they are so slow you couldn't take them on the highway even for a short trip you would get killed. The only thing those would be good for is the pickup truck version would make a usefull truck for driving around your yard instead of using a wheelbarrow.

The question is what does something like that sell for.

Over the years I've probably owned 100 cars. Including a couple of full sized vans. I agree 100% with Tom. The Astro-Safari vans are the perfect size in they're category. There just isn't anything that fits the niche that I use my van for. \:D/

Truthfully, I find them to be about 12" too short... An extra 12 inches behind the seats would be awesome.

I also really wish they put these on a real full frame and never sold them with anything but a 3:73 rear end...

Previous Vans: 1998 Astro, AWD, 138K mi; traded on 2003 Chevy Astro, AWD, 125K mi; traded on
2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 WT, 4x4, ext, long box
2007 Chevy Cobalt
1998 Maza MPV (180K mi and in need of PA inspection--only paid $500!)

Needed: a Gen 2 Astro project vehicle...
