Looking for some new rims for my 97 Astro. . .
I came across these at a local Shop. . .
On this Van. . .
What do you think?
The ones on the pic are eagle 212,18's and 17's. . .I have repaired them 3 or 4 times and I was looking to go with 20's. . . but they only make 17's now. . .

'87 Astro 2wd, lifted, pretty close to 4" all around.
Umm, weren't tri-spokes played out in the early 90s.
Sorry, I'm really not into them.
Sounds like you don't live in an area that's big rim friendly. If you've already had to repair the 17s and 18s, imagine how often 20s would get damaged.
Thanks for the comment. . . The thing is that the rims I have now are just too "soft" They're 2 piece, And the guy at the wheel shop told me
I needed to run at least 50 series tires( too big for me ) in order to protect those rims. I have some friends that have 20's and have had no trouble so I guess it's just my luck. . . :-k

large rims with rubber band tires looks ridiculous. especially on larger vehicles like our vans. unless they are on there for clearance if the vehicle is bagged and has to have them to be able to sit on the ground (lay frame). still looks ridiculous but at least suits a purpose when parked.
as my wife says with vans and trucks running big wheels on rubber bands: looks like a hippo wearing ballet slippers
personally, I like the style of wheel you have on there right now, not bad, just need more sidewall. even in the early 90's when the 3 spokes were popular i didn't like them..
Thanks Crash, as you say, I asked. . . I also have an 87 that's lifted w/30" tires.
Actually as low as it is now, I'm planning on running bags, but no hacking yet.
So I guess the size is for clearence . . . :-k

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of that rim either.. In my opinion, it just leaves everything behind it wide open..and unless you have a big brake kit with some super clean calipers, and a disk brake setup in the back.. I just don't see it looking sharp.. I could be wrong though..
I musta been asleep through the early 90's. I don't remember that style rim being real popular... I thought that's when everyone was running those wire rim Daytons..

yeah, im gonna have to agree with everyone else, tri-spokes died in the 90's and 20's+ wont die soon enough! i personally like my old 15's with some meats but would probably go as big as 17's no bigger than that though, i like the way big tires look, i even like the way your current rims look, but they just need larger tires, like someone else mentioned, to help fill in the wheel well. but if you insist on 20's get something simple and tasteful, the fact that they are 20's should draw enough attention you dont need them to look like chrome flames, or spikes or spinners or anthing else you would see in a rap video.

Guess it's back to the drawing board. . .
I just don't like tall sidewalls, except on off road vehicles or dragsters. . .
I was considering some other rims, but I don't like to have what everybody else is running.
These are another option, but they either stick out too much or rub on the inside. . .

Well, I ended up getting a set of Boss wheels model 304. . .
20x8.5" all around, +14mm offset and 245/40/20 tires.
I think it looks great, I'll post some pics tomorrow when I get it clean and shiny. . .
These are the rims. . .
I think these are 18's, judging by the length of the "spokes".
Thanks for your advice. . .
