possible dilemma re: astro ownership

Post by crash »

those that know me on here probably have caught on to the fact that I have two vans. over the past few years they are the constant in my driveway. one for me and one for Jen. then, whatever else I've picked up to do some work on, drive for a few months and flip for a small profit.

here's my dilemma:

I've now sold the 92 B2200. I have a line on a 2001 Dodge Durango that is far too good of a deal to pass up. For me it was going to be just another flip in a few months or.. if it was as good as it seems, I'd sell the 93 and we'd have the 99 and this Durango.

Jen sees this one differently. She's suggested that we keep the Durango and sell BOTH vans :yikes: wha wha what??
she said she'd be happy with just a small car to shoot back and forth to work in (only 5min from home). I have no problems with a small car.. but really?.. sell BOTH vans??? *panic*

I don't want to get rid of that 99!! .. it's a beaut' .. runs awesome, has low miles and is in pretty great shape for the year (for a Canada van) and I've taken very good care of it.

what on earth can I do or say that will help convince her that selling the 99 is NOT a good idea.. ??

I don't want to miss on the Durango... nor do I want to part with the 99. How can I have both?

please help [-o<

Do the Dodge. With the profit buy her a small car. Keep both vans. \:D/

Easy. Sell the Durango. Reason- The early Durangos had a really bad transmission issue.
A coworker went through 3 before they had one that worked. Also the wheel bearings go out quite frequently.

so far I like Smilies idea the best.. LOL

e7ats: I wouldn't call an 01 an early model. This one is the newer generation 4.7L V8 (aka the semi-hemi), still the original GenIII body style. I had a 00 Dakota with the same motor/trans in it and know of others with the same configuration. Other than a noticeable 'tick' on the top end & going through upper ball joints and front shocks. There's no issues that I'm aware of. The trans behind the 4.7L is the 45RFE.. this is the identical transmission that's behind all the hemi powered Rams. As for the transfer case, I can't speak to that, never owned a 4x4 Dodge before.

cobra: she's saying get the 'rango, keep it and get a small car, so that still = 2 (one per). the sludge issue is actually not. the filler neck on the 4.7L is kind of a composite plastic material that doesn't retain any heat. It's also about 8" long. Any moisture in the oil seems to 'foam' slightly and finds itself creating a creamy looking goo under the oil cap. this is only in the filler neck. under the valve covers where there's heat, there's no goo

i thought it was causing engine problems meh oh well

I supports smiles idea then, if she want a small car fine but why must you suffer too? [-(
