Headlight woes..

Post by crash »

My drivers side bulb is out. No problem I have spares. I have the H4 conversion on my 94. I had 10min to spare before leaving for work, I pull the headlight out and remove the H4 bulb .. hmm.. odd looks perfect. Ah well, stranger things have happened.

Install the new bulb, I see light, shut off the lights and continue reinstall. Get everything back together. Test the lights and the one I just installed is about 20% as bright as the passenger side.

I didn't have time to diagnose the problem, figured that I'd do that today on my day off. ALso, figured I'd post here first before I stood around in the freezing cold.. lol

I know there is some kind of weird grounding that occurs on these vans between the headlight itself and the mount. could that be the issue? I'm going to simply just test the voltage at the plug. In the meantime, any ideas? .. post away.. \:D/

Try pulling the socket back just a fraction with the lights on Rob, for some reason everytime I have replaced a light (i always push the socket down all the way ) the light looks dim,by pulling it back just a bit it should come on full.

Let us know if it works

edit, Ooops I just noticed you don't have the sealed beams,oh well, anyone with the sealed beams give the above a try

will do Keith. I never got to checking it today. Had too many other things on my 'to-do' list. The van didn't make the cut today. 8-[
