Remote Start
Hey has anyone done a write up on a remote start install? I am thinking of getting one, did a search of the site, but came up empty. Just curious if it has been done (I am sure it has) but not sure if there is any information on here about it. Cheers!

Re: Remote Start
I have removed an old one and installed a new one, and can say that the directions that come with the particular brand that you buy should be followed.
I do agree that there are some things that you can list out, like the color of the acc/ign wires, lead to starter, power lock wires (for keyless entry) etc.
The unit I installed had a website and a PIN that you could enter on the package to get your vehicle's particulars. I'll have to look around and see if I still have the directions for the '99 Safari.
The only thing I can add is to solder everything, no crimps or other short cuts. I seal my solders with scotch-kote and good tape (like scotch 33+ or 88T) not the $.49 stuff. You can use shrinks, but I'm not a big fan of them.
I also know how to get around the key with the resistor in it, but I'm not gonna post it in a public forum.
