Um, sure you could, but why? Nobody has trouble getting in my vans that don't have them. I worked on a friend's van this past weekend that has running boards and neither of us ever put a foot on them.

To me these are the only ones that make sense.

For me with Ole Yellar I removed the running boards because I felt/feel they are a water/salt trap making rusting of the rocker panels easier.Just my two cents.

I agree these may not be needed on a stock van, but they might be useful on a lifted one....

Yeah,I kinda like the idea for my stock "95. Cause I haul kayaks and sometimes a cargo carrier for family camping trips. They'd be useful, but the rest of the year I wouldnt have a need for them much. Would be nice to see a set mounted on a Astro/Safari to get a better look. Mark, you thinking about picking up a set?

I always found running boards on astrofari's to be a complete waste & great for
smashing your legs on them.
But hey if you like them & think they would suit your needs by all means
go for it,part of the fun of these vans are customizing/modifying/adding your
own taste to it.

I've got the stock running board and while okay for helping access the roof they are a real pain the the butt to work on the van - I cannot get under her unless I jack her up. I can access from front and rear but thats a lot of crawling, as on the creaper you cannot make it far. So unless lifted and if you don't got em - don't get em - I would love to get rid of the stockers, but my wife likes them.... and I am not going to mess with a preggo wife, and the little boy like them too, it's so funny to see him climb in by himself and the huge grin he gets after he gets up there.
