Tire rotation

Post by Rileysowner »

Ok, I feel like I should know this, but since all my other vehicle have tires that include free rotation, I have never had to do it. But, I do need to have the van's tires rotated, so what is the proper pattern for rotation? I know it is a newbie question, but in many areas I am one.

if all 4 tires are the same size you can rotate front to back , but if youre front and rear are different you can only go left to right.

your drivers front becomes drivers rear, pass front becomes pass rear

drivers rear becomes passenger front
passenger rear becomes drivers front

Then rotate them the same way in 5000k or whatever, the main thing is they are not spending tooo much time wearing in one particular area.

I read this and it is backwards from what I've always done. So I searched. And here is what I came up with:

Interestingly, I've been rotating my wife's car's tires wrong as it is a front driver.....

Honestly, I don't think it matters much.

Some folks will cry foul for rotating radials from one side of the car to the other (and in fact, this was argued on AS.com years ago). Their beliefs, while based on fact when radials first came out, are outdated and wrong.

well, either way they are going to be on all 4 wheels, as long as the rotation is done regularly I doubt it matters all that much for RWD

I always bring the two rears straight forward, then swap sides with the fronts. That way the all get even wear in both directions. If the tires are directional, then it's just front to back.
