I am about to swap the rear axle from my 1994 safari to a rear axle from a 2001 - my 94 has fiberglass springs and the 2001 has steel can I simply swap the whole assembly? I looked at the steel spring mounts and they do not look the same.
anyone ever done this? or would it be easier to just keep my fiberglass springs and just switch the rear axle assembly?

Yes...
You can do either. Since you have the steel leaf hangers, you might as well swap to the steel leafs. Eventually the monoleaf will fray. You need the clamshells, hangers and shackle from the donor.

Re: fiberglass to steel rear springs????
well that's great but I still have to put the axle assembly from mine into the doner van so it can be moved by the owner onto his trailer. So is it hard to go the other way?
