Hood release cable relocation.

Post by dragonvan »

While working on my e-fan install I was eying up how to come up with a ram air setup. I came up with a good idea but the hood prop rod and hood latch release cable will have to go. Later I needed a brain reset so I started the ram air project a little early.

Nothing like getting out the drill and doing some body damage to take your mind off of things \:D/

Just to warn you, this does make it a $%^@#$ getting the battery in and out.

After shaving mine, I decided to disconnect the cable under the dash and dropped mine down the right side of rad. just in case the battery goes haywire.

Nothing like a backup Rebel. You should see some of what I have seen people do to get the hood released when the cable goes bad.... OUCH! I like the stock release location, or rather don't mind it. I just wanted the space on top in case I do my planned ramair mod.

Yep,,you do need back up when you shave for sure. Like where you moved the cable to and does free up some room. Looking forward to the pics of the ram sir set up. Good luck.

Thanks. We have a big trip coming up so the ramair won't get started until later this summer. I need to work on camper mods too you know :)

1/4" doesn't seem like much but for a 7-8" wide x 1" tall cross section it means a LOT!

Hope you have a great trip. Was reading up on your scan guage yesterday. Nice set up for sure.
Been looking at pop-up campers off and on for years. May get with ya to see what you advise.
