I bought a replacement coil, along with spark plugs, wires, disturbiter cap and bug, went to pull the bracket off to drill the rivets out?(looked easy at the time to remove the bracket) this bracket isn't the easiest to get to, any way backed the three 10 mm nuts and bolts out, and this things still fastened in as thigh as a drum, what is it fastened to ??? please advise Steve
One of the studs holding the bracket is a bolt / stud, you pull the nut on top and the throttle cable bracket comes off and there is another nut below that. It is the stud itself that comes out and holds the coil bracket down.

:-k Sorry to revive an old Thread, but I've a bit of a problem with my M11006. I've a new ignition coil waiting to go in and have the nuts removed that secure the bracket (with the coil and the ignition module) to the lower manifold, but the bracket ain't budging. Without a hose bracket that I found secured by the forward nut (should be a cake walk to swing out of the way), what conditions could cause this kind o' stuck?

Are you asking about the '97 safari in your signature?
Did you pull the stud I mentioned in the post before yours?
edit- I don't have the ''97 anymore so I can't go out and look but from the 2012 post I made it was the "stud that holds the throttle cable", IIRC I took off a 10mm nut, cable bracket is pulled off then you have an 11 or 12mm hex under that which is actually the entire stud itself that holds the coil bracket.

I found out that studs, rather than nuts, retained the bracket. The original coil and previous-replacement secondary wires have since been ruled out as the cause of the miss at idle; can't shake a feeling that I have to replace the HVS due to bad bearings (the rotor's axial position within the housing, I found, being critical)....
