broken handle for tilting back of seat ?

Post by crash »

just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem?

my 2nd row buckets on my 99 has rounded itself off. crappy design to say the least. they use a square metal piece as opposed to an actual gear. the handle itself is okay it's the metal piece inside it and the pin that comes out of the base of the seat.

anyone have a fix for this one? (other than a pair of permanently attached vise-grips [-X LOL

You need to replace the adjuster. I think thats what they call it, or the recliner maybe. The metal is pretty soft on it.

No, its at the side of the seat.. One on each side actually. Basically it attaches the back of the seat to the bottom cushion. One side has the mount for the handle, the other side is actuated with a cable.

I can scan a pic out of the service manual if you like. I just changed one of mine, but I dont have the old parts handy right now to take a picture for you. The van is at the body shop getting touched up!

hmm.. sounds complex... are we talking about the same thing? the long plastic handle that you pull up on to adjust the angle of the seat back? .. 8-[

I think we are talking about the same thing.. Its where the handle attaches too. But the square portion of the metal wears down so the handle wont grab it.. Does that sound like what happened with yours?
