hey guys. i know there alot of talented people here, need a good vehicle to carry all your tools around ;)
on my 2nd year of school for body work. i have an assignment i need to do...
and i need some help with some information.
just a neatly written essay on SMAW aluminum welding. it needs to include:
-electrode types used- so far i have found AL43 and E4043. not sure if those are the only ones or both the same thing...
-the breakdown of aluminum electrode codes- i might be able to find that. havent checked yet
-polarity used - i found that is DC
-approximate amperage used- i believe that is 50-165 ?
-advantages and disadvantages- what i found: bad- weld splatter, porosity, poor fusion, shallow penetration, cracking
good- very versatile, simplicity, low equipment costs.
-applications - ?
-where used - 1/8" sheet and bigger.
its hard to find these things on the internet so im just asking around. your help is appreciated!
btw heres my new truck

Re: aluminum stick welding
Technically, polarity means charge (for DC only). For stick welding, that's usually positive, but AC can be used as well, in which case polarity changes about 60 times a second.
