I got PUBLISHED!

Post by CaptSquid »

I seldom write letters to the editor. But this last Veterans/Remembrance Day, I was motivated to do so. Our local newspaper's policy is to contact the sender to verify that they did send the letter. Well, I got my phone call and I told them that I did send the letter. It was published in our paper. But the paper also rewards those who submit particularly well written letters with a Gold Pen Award. Well, I got mine yesterday, even though it had been mailed out earlier.

That is cool and very well written! I never served as I was never made aware of the opportunities when I was 16 - 18 years of age. All I was told was to go to college and get a degree! (which I did after 2 stints in state college) Now our son Ben wants to join the Air Force and we welcome that with open minds and hearts. He is pretty set on it and we will wish him the best. I think it is an awesome opportunity for the kid who doesn't know what career they want and who doesn't want college right now.
