Re: Sticking Brake Pads

Sorry, I have done to much traveling.:) The brake guy put it on the lift and bled them a couple of times. They seemed to work themselves out. He said they sometimes do that. I mentioned something about the ABS box and he said that is something that gets expensive. Of course, now I am having a proble...

Re: Sticking Brake Pads

Ummm, no offense guys, but you may want to re-read my original post. There is a possibility that both sets of calipers are bad, but I would have a hard time believing that. I am going to see what the brake guy says.

Re: Sticking Brake Pads

I did both brake hoses and it is still dragging.

6spd,
It could be the ABS block or maybe one of the metal lines. I am going to take it to a brake guy tomorrow and see what he says.

Sticking Brake Pads

I have had a problem with my brakes ever since I bought this '02 Safari RWD. I finally got around to getting underneath the van to see if I had a leak and sure enough I did. It was the right front brake hose. There was a leak coming from the connection to the hard line. I tightened it down and bled ...

Re: NAPA Echlin Cap

As I said in my first post at the end, the Delco cap still looks pretty good. I could have gone longer on it, but I am trying to eliminate other problems. I don't know where you are in Texas, but maybe it is in a non-humid environment. In that case, you may have less trouble with brass. I just wante...

Cam sensor or CKP

I went by Autozone and they checked the codes for me. I am getting a P1345 code. According to their readout, the definition is camshaft to crankshaft position correlation fault . The explanation is ECM detected that the cam and crank sensor positions were out of time. The probable cause is either an...

NAPA Echlin Cap

I haven't seen it mentioned in awhile, so I had to do a search to remind myself that I wasn't dreaming. It was talked about over at the other site, but not here. I remember some people recommending the Napa Echlin brass caps or other brass caps as being superior to the aluminum AC/Delco cap. In Sept...

Re: Installing new parts

Riley,
I wish you would have started your thread before I got into this. Cargo's pics could have saved me some time on this job.

Re: Installing new parts

Riley, I honestly can't remember, but I believe I tried every variation I could think of. While that way may look easy, the hammer method was really simple and cathartic. :D I mean literally no more than two or three minutes and I had it out. I could have saved a lot of time knowing this instead of ...

Installing new parts

Well, I had a little issue that forced my hand on replacing a lot of front end parts. I was driving along to an appointment when I went over a large speed bump. Bamm! What did I hit and why is the van hardly moving? Got out and the left front wheels was giving me extreme negative camber.:) Fortunate...

Replacing front suspension components w/XRF?

I think it is time to replace most of the parts on the front end of my 1996 Astro 2wd. I bought it in 2000 and I don't believe any of the components have been replaced in its 220k mile life. Anyway, I did a spreadsheet with all of the parts listed and their price from the various suppliers. First, d...

Re: Windshield star repair

Wow, awesome response, Ericglo. What result should I expect? How visible will it be? They are so small now, they don't really bother me, its the threat of cracking I am really trying to prevent. Thanks again. Yeah and ask me how many times I would repair a small crack only to have it break on me. :...

Transmission tube insulation

I am having a problem with my van stuttering while driving. It is almost like it shuts off for a split second. At first I thought it might be vapor lock, but I am in Miami for the last week and I have ruled that out. I think it has been worse during wet weather. I thought it might be the coil, so th...

Re: Windshield star repair

I did this for a living for close to nine years, so I might know a thing or two. :) I might be a little biased, but I owned a Superglass franchise . They were(are) consistently ahead of the curve when it comes to latest and greatest in windshield repair. Whoever you choose the process is pretty much...
